About Pediatrics
The Pediatrics Department at Presbyterian Hospital, Agogo provides specialized care for children from birth through adolescence. Our pediatricians and nurses are trained to deliver child-centered, developmentally appropriate medical care in a warm, family-friendly environment.
We manage everything from common childhood illnesses (like malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhea) to complex cases such as congenital conditions, asthma, and sickle cell disease. Our services also include routine check-ups, growth monitoring, nutrition counseling, and immunizations under Ghana’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).
We understand that children aren’t just small adults—they need specialized attention, a calm atmosphere, and parents who feel heard and supported.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should my child visit the pediatric clinic?
Newborns should visit at 6 weeks, then regularly at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, and annually after that. More frequent visits are advised for children with chronic conditions or delays.
Do you offer immunizations?
Yes. We administer all routine child vaccines (BCG, Penta, Measles, Yellow Fever, etc.) and also provide catch-up vaccines for children who may have missed scheduled doses.
What if my child isn’t gaining weight?
Our team will evaluate feeding habits, run tests if necessary, and provide a nutrition plan. Growth monitoring is part of every pediatric visit.
What conditions require urgent pediatric care?
If your child has high fever, persistent vomiting, difficulty breathing, convulsions, or is unusually drowsy or irritable, seek immediate care.
